A CRUEL stepdad who scalded a two-year-old boy’s genitals by forcing him right into a scorching sizzling tub has been jailed for eight years.

Robert Wayne Bunton, 28, was sentenced Thursday for the December 2018 incident that left his girlfriend’s son with second- and third-degree burns.

He pleaded responsible to second-degree felony depend of aggravated assault inflicting bodily damage with a lethal weapon, the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reported.

Bunton had been held on the Lubbock County Detention Heart since October, after a warrant was issued in January 2019.

In response to an arrest warrant, the toddler’s pores and skin was peeling off when he bought to the hospital.

He was first taken to Covenant Kids’s Hospital, however was later transported to the College Medical Heart burn unit as he suffered second- and third-degree burns on his genitals, buttocks, and abdomen.

A pediatrician who focuses on baby abuse acknowledged: “For my part, this damage is the results of bodily abuse,” in response to courtroom paperwork.

Investigators had been instructed by the boy’s mom – who was at work when her son was given the scalding tub – that Bunton referred to as her saying he’d “tousled” and urged her to come back house, the journal reported.

As a substitute of calling 911, Bunton took the mom and her son to a hospital.

In response to the warrant, the boy’s mother denied any home violence and claimed her boyfriend was a great father.

She reportedly didn’t imagine Bunton, who will not be the boy’s organic father, had purposely harmed him.

Courtroom paperwork revealed the boy’s accidents have since healed, in response to the journal.

No additional medical remedy has been wanted.


Bunton was arrested on a warrant by Richardson police on October 26, 2019, the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal acknowledged.

After pleading responsible, prosecutors used Bunton’s prior conviction for an aggravated assault cost to extend his punishment.
